Blean Angling Teams of Four
Summer Series Round 2, Hartleylands Nicks & Bramley, 10th June
Andy Piper's tutoring failed to get him over the 10kg mark!

A fine summer’s morning welcomed the early risers to this pretty west Kent venue. The pegging team departed to work their worse on what could be a good day for some. The draw was made early for a change, well 5 minutes early anyway. There was some confusion as the pegging team had pegged Nicks out the opposite way than usual, talk about the blind leading those that don’t want to see!

Eventually everybody found their pegs and began planning their match. Nicks usually has the bigger weights but only two anglers managed to break the 40kg barrier, whilst over on Bramley the top 4 weights all exceeded 39kg.

Moatrix Invicta kept up the pressure with two section wins and a second. A little gap is opening at the top of the league but the chasing group are warming to the task. A good performance from Paul Gilbert gave his team some much needed points. A communication problem led to Spot On losing some points despite having a full squad. This in turn kept Bobs Mob away from their usual position at the bottom of the league.

An intense mid-match coaching session from Micky Wright did nothing to improve Andy Pipers luck; he still failed to break the 10kg mark. I expect he will blame the early barracking from others for his misfortune.

It has been suggested that Steve West attends evening classes for his maths, not only did he deprive Unity of 2 vital points, he gave Spot-On 7 more points than they should have. Never mind at least he tries.

Damage control reports just one casualty this week…Andy Cox had his No 5/6 give up on him, it sounded like a shotgun going off. He was last seen stomping off to his car muttering “they don’t make things like they used to”.

Many thanks to all those that helped out this week and don’t forget some of Canterbury will be closed off on the day of the next match, anyone who wants a short cut from the A2 to Chartham get in touch . The Sportsman should be open just difficult to get too.
