Blean Angling Teams of Four
11th November 36 Pegs, Chilham Match Lake

Before dawn had broken, the regulars were gathering at the Sportsman for the ritual pre match breakfast, a notable absentee was Steve West; word was he was going straight to the venue to do the pegging, shame as I had the pegs. On arrival at the lake I was greeted by a sorry sight, Steve west with a hangover! Not a pretty sight I can tell you. Eventually it was established that there were only 9 teams but we can work with that. It would have been nice if I had known that half a team had quit but then I only organise the league don’t I.

The fishing was hard with a few blanks and rather low weights but as the water was gin clear in places, which was to be expected. In A section there was a three way tussle between Steve Homewood, Richard Eyre and Bob Richards in pegs 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Richard came out on top with 14.4kg and Steve just edged out Bob with 9,6kg to Bob’s 9.4kg not that that stopped Bob celebrating his first placing in the Teams of Four. It’s been a long time coming and some would say long overdue. I suppose that I should blow my own trumpet a bit more but I shall not spoil the moment. I should just mention that I also beat Bamber, Mick Wright and Trevor Lee. Look it isn’t going to happen that often let me have my 5 minutes of glory.

Elsewhere on the lake things were rather hard but Unity had a brilliant start to the series with 3 section wins with guest Andy Milton taking the other section. Other notable performances were Joe Richards who worked hard for a section 4th despite having a broken finger also Rob Smith went for a swim to retrieve his brolly; no photos were obtained of this strange occurrence.

Many thanks to Micky Wright for his work during the week and to Steve and Tim for pegging out. And it almost stayed dry all day with just a few scattered showers
