One of Britain’s oldest mysteries was finally uncovered on Sunday at Ladyswalk
when the Loch Ness monster surfaced from the murky depths of the Royal
Military Canal in Hythe. Or was it Ian Richie searching in vain for a No.7 and butt
section for his Power Legion that rolled teasingly over the bank never to be seen
again? Study the picture and make up your own mind fellas!!!!
Fortunately, Mark Coker was only pegged two swims away and a fully priced up
written quotation for the spares was presented to Ian on the final whistle! There’s
efficiency for you!!! Mind you Ian had the last laugh, beating Mark to 2nd in
section by 7 ounces. If anyone knows how Ian managed to fish all day holding
his No6 and No8 sections together we would very much like to hear from you???
Brighter weather conditions greeted the return of the eight silver fish teams to
Ladyswalk and the average weights improved considerably. Squatt, pinkie and
breadpunch proved the most popular baits for the resident roach and skimmer
shoals via pole or short whip tactics.
Only 5 points separated first and last position in the team event with Team Bill
winning on the day; 7 of their points amassed by Nessie himself! Wantsum Blue
finished closed behind on 15 with the Grumpy Old Men and Fun Boy 3 equal
third on 14.
Mark Coulson fishing for Bradley Baits won the individual with 5lb 6oz, fishing
short whip to hand with Ian Richie finishing second, mainly we believe, because
he was desperately seeking to obtain a cut of the superpools money to contribute
towards his replacement sections! Veteran Preston Delcac angler Kevin Dyer
took third and won C Section with a commendable 4lb 9oz.
