Blean Angling Summer League
Round 2, 24th June, Monks Lake 2, 34 Pegs

Lake 2

A wet day or is it another wet day, it’s hard to tell sometimes, whatever, we were at Monks again only this time we had lake 2 to enjoy.

With typical British eccentricity, when everyone was asked to form a queue; our lot formed two, not content with that the same person wanted to be at the front of both queues nonetheless the draw did proceed.  It did seem that most people wanted to avoid the far bank as it had a reputation as not as good as the rest of the lake. Well we busted that rumour  with two of the top three weights and a couple of 30kg +’s. It fished extremely well, in fact it was only Trevor Lee’s outstanding catch from peg 76 that beat it.

Brian Malyn fishing his first league match with us had a good debut with 45.100kg from peg 85 to finish runner-up. Other notable catches were Rab (36.100kg) and Kev Fuller (37.800kg) from either end of the left bank. Carp were not feeding as well as was expected and most of the weights were made up of good sized barbel and chub, with plenty of tench also showing.

The rain did not seem to dampen sprits and everyone clung on until the end and weighed in. It is nice to see a few more anglers joining our happy throng, the more the merrier!

Thanks to all those that helped out on the day. A short message to all those that were away at Whiteacres this week... Don’t worry Dave S only got 17 points.

See you all at Chilham next month.
