Blean Angling Winter League
Round 4, Lavender Old Lake, 29 Pegs, 25th March 2007

A fine spring morning welcomed us to this popular venue for the first time this year. The draw was undertaken with the usual shouts of hot pegs and I might as well go home now’s, but everyone at least made it to their peg. As a rule, setting up is a relatively quiet period but Andy P decided to give us a song or 3 in the first 8-10 pegs, well talk about unleashing a fury on the unsuspecting. Ben Smith started to sing, then it has got to be better than his moaning which carried on for the rest of the match. Will we ever find a place that Ben is really happy fishing?
The fishing was patchy which is borne out by the fact that the top 3 all came from different areas on the lake. A good win for Bob Francis fishing on the edge of the dam wall, the bulk of his fish coming from open water rather than against the reeds, Paul G again put a good weight together for 2nd place, edging out Ray Fell by just over a kilo.
One of the best performances of the day was by our ever present junior Joe Richards who squeezed just over 8kg from his peg to give him his first ever section win. Well done Joe.
Final Result:
1st Bob Francis 16.5kg
2nd Paul G 10.5kg
3rd Ray Fell 9.5kg
Sections A Derek Harvey 9.3kg
B Stretch 9.45kg
C Joe R 8.1 kg
The final leg at monks will be very interesting see you all on the 29th April. Finally many thanks to all those that helped make this a good day.
