Blean Angling Summer League
27th August Round 4, Cottington Match Lake 27 Pegs

In the middle of what is a busy weekend on the Kent angling calendar we found ourselves at the popular venue of Cottington Match Lake. Our numbers down on other matches but to be expected with Hartlylands Charity match on the Saturday and our Charity match on Monday even the most understanding of partners had good reason to put their foot down and demand first call. But that didn’t stop the usual suspects escaping for a few hours.

The draw done everyone was down to the lake to prepare for a good days fishing, the weather was set fair and bare arms were a plenty until the breeze got up driving a lot of anglers back to their cars to pick up the woolly jumpers, not that they were needed for long.

As usual it was local knowledge that helped and Tim Fagg cruised to a good win despite suffering with a bad back. If that is what a bad back does for you hold back on the painkillers! Tim weighed in a creditable 60.70kg, over 10kg more than his nearest challenger.

Elsewhere on the lake things were a bit patchy except for lane 2 where Dan Warman, Brian Mallin and Kerry Davies all breached the 40kg mark. With three generations of the Warman family fishing it was nice see son beat father not once but twice with Dan beating his dad John and he in turn beating his dad Fred. Let’s hope we see many repeats of that battle. Talking about fathers and sons Bob Richards finally managed to beat his son Joe. Well at least Bob has beaten someone this series!  Well done to Jim Miles fishing his second match with us and landing a respectable 23.60kg also a mention for Pat Todd who actually managed to weigh in this week with a fine 1.5kg.

Well done to Cottington, the lake is looking good after all the work that has been done Many thanks to all that helped out on the day and can I say that despite Trevor paying us a visit and baring his backside, it did nothing to spoil a good days fishing.
