Blean Angling Winter League Round 2
28th January 07, Cottington Black Lake 26 Pegs

A warmer morning than of late greeted the first match of 2007, it may have been warmer but there was still a brisk wind blowing, which did nothing to improve the temperature of the water.
Steve West pegged out and the draw was completed. Everyone disappeared to their pegs and busied themselves setting up, well all except the person who drew peg 23. He set himself up alongside peg 22, logical place you would think. Well it would be but peg 23 was 20 metres away on the main lake. Mr Piper requested that in future it would be easier if we let him find a peg then put a number to it.
Dave Elliot, fishing in the basin thought all his Sundays had come at once when he hooked into a large fish, Points, Superpool, Section money all passed before his eyes and kept on going when he landed a large pike. Bad luck Dave it should have been a real fish.
Can someone explain to Ray that top-kits don’t make very good bridges. You will have noticed that the fishing has not got a very big mention yet well that is about the story of the day, it was awful but at least it was a days fishing, with only the odd decent fish like Dave Silmans tench and good perch for Joe R and Nigel . But the match was won with less than 1.5 kilos. In fact only four anglers breached the kilo barrier.
FINAL RESULT
1st Mark T 1.450 kg
2nd Nigel M 1.400kg
Joint 3rd Ray F and Bob A 1.150 kg each
Many thanks to all those that turned up and those that helped on the day.
And remember if you fish in the right peg, without breaking a section or hooking a stray pike you might just have a good day.
