Blean Angling Shop League
Round 1 Hartleylands (Nicks) 22 Pegs

A bright late spring morning made it a day to look forward to. Paul Gilbert and his merry band actually arrived early got there gear out and eagerly awaited the draw but something was wrong nobody else was here, did someone forget we were fishing at Hartlylands today then Paul?
When everyone eventually turned up to the right place we were able to start, the usual banter about flyers and duff pegs were exchanged, Ray of course drew a flyer,
Flying to where we never did find out as there was a distinct absence of fish according to Ray. Mark pulled up his armchair; all he needed was a telly to look well at home.
The weather gods did us proud and a good day was had by all. Ah yes the fishing that wasn’t too bad either, the sound of feeders and bombs hitting the water regularly plus the usual curses as fish were lost. With a moderate south westerly wind blowing pole presentation was difficult and most fish being taken on the tip. During a visit from the chuck wagon there was no truth in the rumour that Bob also phoned out for a takeaway.
The rumours being spread that Roger was landing Mark T’s fish for him were unfounded but strange that there weights were quite close though... The match drew to a close, the usual parade of anglers following the scales to try and second guess the winner but there was a different name at the top of the pile this time with Roger H winning with 16.35kg with Bamber just scraping into second with 15.60kg Micky Fell taking third with14.45kg Another good effort by Joe R with 9.20kg not only made him top junior but he also beat a lot of good adults. Shame we were abit thin on the ground but it seems the top anglers are saving there selves for the big match on Monday, I think Paul should have stayed there for some much needed practice looking at his weight for today.
