Blean Angling Shop League
Round 2 Monks Lake 1, 27 Pegs, 29th June 2008

Our first visit to this excellent venue this series and a good match was on the cards. Only one thing could spoil it…the weather, which did its best but did not totally ruin a good day. There was a lot of posturing by some of our more experienced anglers prior to the draw. Some of them went a bit quiet when they knew where they would be fishing.
Some purists would say that Barbel should not be stocked in lakes but the sport that they provided in this match was very good whilst those that caught a lot of Barbel did not catch a lot of Carp, most would agree that it was a good days fishing .
With three of the top weights coming from the far bank with Stu Atkinson bringing in 45.6kg from peg 37 it was left to Andy Goss to grab second place with 41.3kg from the car park bank , Andy Piper was 3rd with 39.8kg . Ray Fell was 4th pushing Ron Hussey into 5th, Ray and Ron now share top spot with 74 points each but its early days yet and Thanet’s James Young, our current champion is lurking not far away.
Thanks to all those that turned up see you all next month.
