Blean Angling Shop League
Round 5, 30th September 07
Hartleylands, Nick’s & Peartree Lakes, 38 Pegs

A fine Kentish early autumn morning greeted us at this pretty west Kent venue. A really good turn out for a match this late in the series, with some new faces, some old faces returning and the rest of the crowd that support these  matches throughout the year.

Up on Peartree Dan West decided to get stuck in and have a good day, trouble was the fish he landed was about 10 minutes early. Despite calls to ban him or worse, it was decided that as he threw it back, no more would be said. It seemed to set a precedent as Dan caught steadily from the same place all day but the fish were of no real size and he was pushed into 5th place with Paul Gilbert taking the honours on this lake with 33kg. Mick Partridge on an end peg was nearest to him with 19.5kg, Dan Warman fresh  from his sea fishing success beached a good 18.4kg but the Oscar for best performance with a pole must go to George Newstead, he kept us all enthralled landing his 2 lumps, well they were quite big anyway.

Over on Nicks the fishing was much the same with Brian M top weight with a creditable 45.5kg, but it was the consistent finishing of the Unity Boys that has all but taken the league. It will be down to who can master Chilham next month, with at least 6 anglers in with a chance of winning.

Despite the early whinging and jockeying for position I think everyone had a good days fishing. Thanks to Pat Todd for taking care of Nigel for us during the match. We like to do our bit for care in the community! And as usual thanks to all those that pegged out, helped with the weigh-in etc, without you chaps we would not have a league.
