Blean Angling Teams of Four
Round Four Cottington Match Lake, 9th March, 36 Pegs
The weather forecast was not exactly exciting for our last visit this series to Cottington Match lake but as Steve West had spent a lot of his scarce free time working out a fair draw, we had to turn up to fish.
Early action came not on the lake but outside the café when Kev Dyer ambushed Andy Cox to collect a quid he was owed. Andy turned so pale at the thought of handing over money we all thought he was going to pass out but I digress we were here for a fishing match and with the draw duly done we departed for our respective pegs.
With Matrix fielding half a team of ringers we were expecting a good scrap at the top of the league but Moatrix had other ideas taking a 1st two 2nd ‘s and a 3rd . They stormed to a 10 point lead with one match to go, with only Ray (I’ll fish for anyone) Fell matching his recent form.
Shock of the day was Kevin Dyer’s performance on B section, his claims that he thought it was a silverfish match fell on deaf ears and to add insult to injury he was later seen handing money to Andy Cox. With Ray taking another overall win he must be thinking ahead to the summer league when he will be entering a new team which we are told is a closely guarded secret, there is a rumour that Bob Nudd, Alan Scothorne and Mt Crabtree , have been seen hanging around the Blean area, at the time of going to press. This rumour was unconfirmed.
We are all looking forward to the last match of the series at Hartleylands see you all on the bank.
Thanks to Steve for all his hard work
