Blean Angling Teams of Four
Round 3, Chilham Match Lake, 40 Pegs,13th July

Ray

A bright summer’s morning welcomed us to this tough venue where many hearts and a few poles have been broken. Following extensive gardening by Micky Wright and Nigel Mills with a little help from Mid-Kent, every swim looked fishable.

With Charlie Chawners men tied up with a club match a team form… Medway Trotters took part to try and add to existing scores. Most of the team were Chilham novices but that did not deter Mick Shier who stamped his mark on D section with a fine 15kg just edging out venue expert (?) Steve West with 14.75kg. In section c it was the turn of Ringers James Young to take the honours with 28.9kg, Bamber 2nd with 25.3kg. In b section Bob Atkinson was the only angler to break the 10kg mark with 15.2kg.

Over in A section Stu Atkinson took top spot with 16.3kg from Carl Poynter with 12.9kg. The only two anglers to break 10kg elsewhere.

Fish were hard to find and a few blanks have been noted, once again Chilham fished the way it wanted to and no amount of trying could change that. However there were a few changes to our procedures. We have now introduced unhooking mats for the scales team as you all know we must lead in the protection of the fish stocks we use. Well that is all of us except one who shall remain nameless to protect him in when we are taking the MICK and in case he FELL out with us, this nameless person took the offered mat and left it at his peg for the duration of the weigh-in then tried to plead ignorance when reminded.

Many thanks to Ray & Mark for the mats I am sure they will all get used in the future. See you all at Lavender.
